If I Stay by Gayle Forman
If I Stay  is a compelling novel about a young woman named Mia. One snowy day, while Mia is in the car with her family, a semi-truck plows into the car. The accident leaves her severely injured, in grave danger. Mia must decide whether to stay alive or die. The decision is paramount to her future, but it is one only she can make.

I would recommend this novel to any person looking for an exciting story. I felt as if I were going on the adventure with Mia, through her struggle concerning which path to take; life or death. Gayle Forman does an exceptional job keeping the reader engaged. I was always asking "what will happen next?" With every turn of the page, I was on the edge of my seat.       If I Stay should definitely go to the top of your reading list!

A Room On Lorelei Street

Picture
A Room On Lorelei Street is the story of a seventeen year old girl named Zoe. Zoe is constantly taking care of her alcoholic mother. While Zoe struggles at school, her job at the local diner proves difficult also. Then Zoe rents a room from an old lady named Opal. Opal shows Zoe the meaning of friendship and gives purpose back to Zoe's life.

I would not reccomend this book to many teenagers. I found the story line moves at a very slow pace. The first three quarters of the book were not very exciting. The end moves along quicker because the chapters are only two or three pages long. The alcoholic mother in this story makes me angry and frustrated, making me want to throw the book on the floor. I could not relate to this book, which made it hard to get through. If you are a teen having problems at home you might be able to relate to this text. If you are in that situation then this book might help you relieve your pent up feelings from inside.
